Although rainy conditions for days ahead of the race made things more difficult, riders were prepared to battle both each other and the track to determine who would be the best at Bostwick! Saturday's practice for round #4 of the 2014 FL/GA Spring Championship had to be cancelled, but the track was able to be saved for Sunday's race. The Lites C class took to the track in the first race of the day, with Beck's Tech's Hunter Hawkins showing his comfort level with riding the Bostwick track even under tough conditions. Hawkins took the win, ahead of the #41 Kawasaki of Ryan Rossier, and the #127 Yamaha of Austin Stuart.
Alexander Frye (KTM #28) definitely rode to show he was the best at Bostwick, winning every moto he raced and taking the win in THREE fast classes! Frye won the 16-29 class, the MX B class, and the Lites B class.
The plus class riders were just as determined as the younger riders to use their experience and skill to prove themselves to be the among the best at Bostwick. Daryl Thiel (YAM #741) and Harold Glissen (YAM #248) battled it out in both the +40 and +50 classes, with Thiel emerging victorious in both classes. Glissen raced the +30, +40, AND +50 classes, with 4th, 2nd, and 2nd place overall finishes respectively. Lee Tatham (HON #641) was the winner of the +30 class.
Nate Carr (KAW #711) was the best at Bostwick in the 85cc Beginner class. In the 85cc 12-15 class, Hayden Hawkins (SUZ #417) took the win ahead of the KTM #34 of Hunter Blackledge. The two would race again in the Supermini class, where Blackledge would take the win. Rowdy Houston (KAW #155) was the winner in the Jr. Mini class.
Donny Smallwood showed he was among the best at Bostwick when he rode his #151 KTM to take the win in every moto of the 65cc Open and 65cc 7-9 classes. Ryder Gwynn (KTM #5) would be the best in the 65cc Beginner class, and Stone Newsome KAW (#524) was the winner of the 65cc 10-11 class.
The 50cc riders on Bostwick's peewee track were ready to race to be the best. The little 50cc bikes would sometimes charge into a corner together, and on the gas, making for some great racing pictures! The 50cc Beginner class winner was Jack Sessions (KTM #30). Chase Matott (KTM #57) took the win in both the 50cc Open class and 50cc 7-9 class. The 50cc 4-6 class winner was Tyler Mollet (COB #20).
FGSC riders will soon have to switch tires and techniques, as they leave the softer soil of Bostwick and head to the harder terrain and more technical track at Dade City Mx on May 18th for round #5 of the 2014 FL/GA Spring Championship.
