Beautiful Florida weather and awesome track conditions made for a great day of racing at Mx of Marion County! The weekend's race would be round #3 of the FGSC's FL/GA Spring Championship series, and MX #9 of the Florida Trail Riders motocross series. Large gates and tough competition led to exciting racing throughout the day! The Vet A $ class race ended with Cole Studstill (#681) taking the win, with Brad Kadau (YAM #9) finishing second, and Steve Dumond (KAW #211) finishing third. Brad Kadau also raced the Plus 40 class where he proved to be victorious. Second place would go to Steve Dumond (KAW #211), and third place to Lee Tatham (HON #641). Tatham also raced the Plus 30 class, where he would take the win over James Nagy (SUZ #11) and Michael Patton (KAW #413) who finished second and third respectively. In the Plus 50 class, the Yamaha #741 of Daryl Thiel would cross the finish line first. Dennis Rizza would finish in second aboard his #23 Honda, followed by Ed Garlin (YAM #72).
The FTR classes were certainly entertaining races to watch, with the #51 of Bill Petitt riding to take the win in the Evolution class, ahead of the Suzuki #11 of Richard Leigh, and the Honda #76 of Rob Larson. In the FTR Woods class, Alton Snellgram (#1c) was the winner.
The 105-250cc 12-15 class was full of exciting racing, with Colton Eigenmann (KTM #815), Dawson Stark (KTM #91), and Perry Warren (KAW #3) riding well, showing both speed and style. Eigenmann and Stark would race closely for a while, but it would be Eigenmann who would take the win. Perry Warren would finish third. Dawson Stark would race again in the 2-Stroke Open class, where he would be the winner. Brandon Odell (KTM #127) finished in second place, and Austin Stuart (YAM #127) in third. Colton Eigenmann and Perry Warren would race each other again in the Super Mini class, where they would finish first and second respectively. Beck's Tech's Brett Meade (HON #147) would finish third. The Jr Mini class top 3 were Christopher Post (KTM 319), Rowdy Houston (KAW #155), and Jack Chambers (KTM 102).
Aspen Boothby (KTM #34) and Chase Patton (#413) would race each other in both the 65cc 7-9 class and the 65cc Open class, but Boothby managed to stay ahead of Patton in both classes. Boothby took the win in the 65cc 7-9 class, with Patton finishing second and the Kawasaki #151 of Donny Smallwood finishing third. In the 65cc Open class, both Boothby and Patton would be bested by Jack Kinney (KTM #100), who took the win. Brandon Ma (KTM #106) was the 65cc Beginner class winner. In the 65cc 10-11 class, young Blair Howard rode his Yamaha #418 to the win. Stone Newsome (KAW #524) took second place, followed by the #909 KTM of Isabel Colon.
Trace Kopka rode his #98 KTM to the win in the 50cc Beginner class, followed by Dyllon Kimsey (KTM #529) and Calen Myers (KTM #800). The 50cc 4-6 class top three were Tyler Mollet (COB #20), Bradyn Johnson (KTM #11), and Emile Lacher (KTM #55). Jordan Renfro (COB #107) was the winner in the 50cc 7-9 class, followed by Tyler More and Chase Matott. A second place didn't dampen the enthusiasm of young Tyler More (KTM #331), who later brought home the win in the 50cc Open class, and treated spectators to a great no-footer over the finish line jump! Chase Matott and Zane Spires finished their 50cc Open race in second and third respectively.
