Florida weather would make for some tough races at round #4 of the FL/GA Fall Championship at Motocross of Marion County. FGSC riders had enjoyed great weather for Saturday's practice, but rain overnight would leave challenging conditions for both track crew and racers on Sunday. The soft conditions would lead some to take a soil sample, or two, as they tried their best to charge hard. Championship points were close in several classes, and riders were giving it their all to be the one to leave Reddick with the points lead. One such class was the 50cc Beginner class, where Marvin Niezabitowski (KTM #223), Tyson Longbottom (KTM #21), and Calen Myers (KTM #73) battled the track's challenges, and each other, with great effort. Marvin Niezabitowski rode well, and got the day's win with 3-1 moto scores. Tyson Longbottom and Calen Myers would finish the day in second and third respectively. Myers won the first moto, but trouble in moto two led to a third place overall score. It would be enough though, to give him the series points lead. Only two points now separate Myers and Niezabitowski as they head for round #5 at Bostwick Creek Mx Park.
The more experienced racers in the Plus 40 class also had a few good battles, but the race belonged to Steve Nagy (SUZ #40). Nagy got the holeshot and never looked back, taking the checkers and the race win in both motos. Carl Rutledge (KTM #662) came in second place in the first moto, but bike trouble at the gate lead to a DNS in the second moto, leaving Tony Szynaka (HON #116) and Mark Osteen (KAW #80) to battle it out. Szynaka would manage to stay ahead, and his 4-2 moto scores would award him second place overall, beating the 3-3 moto scores of Osteen.
Sure to always be full of racing action, the C classes didn't dissappoint. Justin Maloy (KAW #55) was the winner in the MX C class with 1-1 finishes. Adam Aderhold (HON #110), Thomas Fee (KAW #181), and Hunter Hawkins (KAW #434) would race closely, finishing the day in second, third, and fourth place respectively. Maloy would later take the win again in the Lites C class, but this time he would have a tougher battle. Perry Warren (KTM #3), Austin Stuart (YAM #127), Hunter Hawkins (KTM #434), and Mark Zerrusen (YAM #11) were all after the win in this race! The racing was intense, with Warren and Stuart each seeing a moto win. Both would miss the mark in their other moto though, allowing Maloy's consistent 2-2 finishes to give him the overall win.
Skill, speed, and style. Spectators were in for a treat, watching Dylan Greer (YAM #777) and Alexander Frye (KTM #28) dominate every race they entered. Dylan Greer won every moto in the Lites B, MX B, and Open Am No A classes. Alexander Frye won every moto of the Lites A, MX A, and Open Money classes. Great things are surely ahead for these two talented racers.
The 2014 FL/GA Fall Championship series returns home to Bostwick Creek Mx Park on November 16th for round #5!
