October 5 was the opening round of the 2014 FL/GA Fall Championship, and riders arrived at Bostwick Creek MX Park ready to race! Racers and their families appeared very happy to be enjoying a beautiful, sunny Florida day for the start of the Fall Championship. Many series sponsors, such as Beck's Tech, Loudmouth, The Moto-Stop, and Live Ruthless were trackside at the event to offer riders support and great products. The first gate drop of the day was for the 85cc Beginner class, and it would be the #13 Honda ride of Sean Robinson that would take the win ahead of Devon Ransom (KAW #76) and Nate Carr (#711). Robinson would ride well again in moto two, taking the moto victory and the overall win.
The ever-growing "C" classes at the races were again the largest of the day, and full of intense racing. The FGSC now offers six different classes to accommodate this growing number of up-and-coming racers (Lites C, MX C, D-C Unlimited, B-C Unlimited, and Vet C)! Hunter Hawkins (KTM #434) was the MX C class winner. Austin Grabow (YAM #359) and Danny DiCiaccio (SUZ #515) finished second and third respectively. The largest classes of the day were the Lites C and D-C Unlimited classes, with seventeen racers in each. Austin Stuart (YAM #127) took the win in the Lites C class, ahead of Justin Maloy (KAW #55) and Derek Hopkins (KAW #264). Jordan Fuguet (KAW #49) was victorious in the first moto of the D-C Unlimited class, but intense racing in the second moto would lead to Derek Hopkins winning the moto and the overall. Fuguet would have to settle for second overall, ahead of Brandon Kent (KTM #3).
Tristan Lane (KAW #11) won the B-C unlimited class, ahead of John Haller (HON #33). Lane was also the winner in the MX B class. John Ogrady (KAW #210) would finish in second place, and Devin Landry would bring home third. The Lites B class winner was Alex Ransom, with a dominating performance and 1-1 moto scores. Ransom was also victorious in the 105-250cc 12-15 class. The Lites A and Open Money classes were dominated by Ian Chia (YAM #910). Jake Raikes (HON #44) took the win in the MX A class.
Chase Matott (KTM #57) took the win in two of the 50cc classes, and then went on to finish third in the 65cc 7-9class AND the 65cc Open class! The win in both the 65cc 7-9 and Open classes went to Donny Smallwood (KTM #151), with Jared Cannon (KTM #171) taking second place in both.
Round #2 of the 2014 FL/GA Fall Championship will be at Pax Trax Mx Park in Bunnell, FL on October 19th. For full race/series results from the 2014 FL/GA Fall Championship, and more information about the FGSC series, visit flgaracing.com!
