Florida MOTO News stopped at Orlando Mx Park to get in on all the racing fun at the November Florida Sereies race. The Dyess family had worked to secure sponsors for many of the classes, and a large number of riders at the event saw prize money for their Top 5 performance. The lure of the added prize money, and some great competition, drew over 300 entries to the Florida Series race.
The weekend of racing started out on Orlando Mx Park's PeeWee track, with the 50cc OIL* and 50cc BEG classess. Gage Pepin (YAM #76) would take the win in both classes, with 1-1 moto scores in each. Racing would then move to the Main track, where the 85cc BEG/D and Super Mini (10-15) classes began the racing there. Honda mounted Julian Davis (#111) rode well, and won the day overall in the 85BEG/D class with 1-1 scores. In another great performance, Jack Kinney (KTM #100) rode to the win in both motos in the Super Mini (10-15) class.
The much anticipated 125cc 2 Stroke class put on a great show for spectators. One of the largest classes of the day, the sound of the many 2 stroke engines buzzing around the track was music to the ears of many. Cole Bradford (HSK #27) put on a commanding performance, taking the lead early, and staying well ahead of his competitors all the way to the checkers. Bradford's obvious talent had spectators talking, and FLMN taking note as well. Surely bright things are ahead for this talented young rider.
The final race of the day was the Open A & B class, and with 18 very fast riders on the gate, it was sure to be an exciting race. Each racer charged hard and rode well. However, it was the #50 Yamaha of Austin Winslow who would see the win in each moto. Second place would go to Michael Clarke (HON #99), and third place to Cameron Fasnacht (KAW #37).
The Florida Motocross Series has only one race left in 2017. The December 17th race is Orlando Mx Park's Annual Christmas Race, and will also serve as the makeup race for the cancelled September 10th race. Santa will even be there with toys for the kids! FLMN hopes to see everyone there!
